    The Christian Home Educators Association of California (CHEA) is a non-profit ministry established in 1982 to provide information, support, and training to the home education community throughout the state.

    They provide support and information as well as annual conventions and a regular newsletter to their members.

  • CHN - California Homeschool Network

    CHN is a California-based organization that helps families get started in homeschooling and find accurate information about legal issues. They also provide step-by-step instructions on how to file your Private School Affidavit.

  • HSC - HomeSchool Association of California

    HSC offers support for homeschooling families in California. Their website includes links, articles and resources including information for families with gifted and special-needs children.

    They also host conferences and campouts for families.

  • HSLDA - Home School Legal Defense Association

    HSLDA is a national organization that keeps watch on legal issues and fights for families' rights to homeschool in every state. Their website contains many current articles and law reviews as well as information on current cases and laws in each state.

    Their knowledgable staff will answer questions regarding state laws and  protective services contacts.

  • NATHHAN - Support for Special-Needs Children

    NATHHAN is a Christian organization that exists to encourage homeschooling families across the nation with special-needs children.

    Their website includes articles, resources, letters from families, support groups, a discussion board, crafts, recipes, book reviews, help and advice.

  • San Diego Home Education

    San Diego Home Education is an online email group that exists to support home schoolers in San Diego County. It is open to all home schoolers regardless of personal beliefs or educational methods. With over 750 members, this is a great place to find local park days and support groups, find out about classes and extra-curricular activities, discuss curriculum and methods, or simply find friends for yourself or your kids!

    www.sdhomeschoolcenter.com contains many great links and articles including park days, curriculum guides, and some great "getting started" information.

  • San Diego Homeschooling

    This comprehensive website has been a great resource to the community for a number of years, listing many other organizations, support groups, school options, etc. Although it is no longer updated regularly, much of the information is still current and it is a great place to start learning about local options.

  • The Private School Affidavit (PSA or R4)

    The California Department of Education has provided this simple online form to enable private school administrators to file their intent to establish and operate a private school. There is no approval process, and filing the form does not indicate any approval, accreditation, or acceptance from the CDE.

    It is the one and only required form that families must file in order to establish a private school in their own homes. It is available from October 1 until sometime in late spring when it goes offline.
